How are appointments scheduled?
The office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with them for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued.
Since appointed times are reserved exclusively for each patient we ask that you please notify our office 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to keep your appointment. Another patient, who needs our care, could be scheduled if we have sufficient time to notify them. We realize that unexpected things can happen, but we ask for your assistance in this regard.
Do I stay with my child during the visit?
Parents are welcome to stay with their child during any visit in our office especially the first visit. However for subsequent visits, we find children often do better when they come to the treatment area with one of our staff members. Our purpose is to gain your child's confidence and overcome apprehension. If you should decide to be with your child in the treatment area, only one parent at a time can be with your child. The area is not big enough for more than one. For the safety and privacy of all patients, other children who are not being treated should remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.
What about finances?
Payment for professional services is due at the time dental treatment is provided. Every effort will be made to provide a treatment plan which fits your timetable and budget, and gives your child the best possible care. We accept cash, personal checks, debit cards and most major credit cards.
Our Office Policy Regarding Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is a wonderful benefit provided by many employers in our area. Typically it covers preventive care at a very high percentage – often fully – and other needed services are covered at a lesser percentage. Our mission is to assist families in providing the very best care for their children while helping them manage expenses whenever possible. For this reason, we have very family-friendly policies regarding dental insurance. For children who are covered by a dental insurance plan, we are happy to submit necessary claims for the family. For most insurances, we are able to accept payment on behalf of the patient which minimizes the immediate out-of-pocket expense and we ask that you pay just your estimated portion of treatment fees at the time of service. Submitting the dental claim for the family also speeds up the process of reimbursement and saves them the time to complete and submit the forms.
In addition, we are now an in-network provider with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina. For families with this particular insurance, they benefit by receiving negotiated rates, which may be an additional cost savings.
We work diligently to provide excellent care and value to each family at fair and competitive fees.
